William LaPointe - President and CEO
As the company's president and CEO, Bill is responsible for
Spinwave's strategic direction and general management. Bill brings more
than 25 years of building automation experience and has a proven track
record of growing a startup company to industry leadership. Bill was the
President of Andover Controls Corporation, a leading supplier of DDC
systems to the Building Automation market, from Sept. 1979 to its
acquisition by Schneider Electric in 2004. Under his direction, Andover
grew from 9 employees and under $1M in annual revenue to over 650
employees and revenues of $170M. Prior to Andover Controls, Bill held
positions of financial and operations management with companies in the
general industrial, computing, and defense industries. He holds and M.S.
degree in Accounting from Bentley College and a B.A. degree in finance
from Northeastern University.
Sean Sun - CTO; VP, Engineering
Sean brings
insightful technology visions and years of research and development
experience on board. He has extensive expertise in architecting,
designing and implementing large scale systems on various platforms,
and has led engineering teams of various sizes.
Prior to founding Spinwave Systems, Sean was a lead engineer at
Millennial Net, focused on the IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee standards
and related technologies; a senior software engineer at Heroix
Corporation; a principal software engineer at Lucent
Technologies/Ascend Communications, worked on the ATM/Frame Relay
core switching products.
Before starting his career in the high-tech industry, Sean was a
researcher at MIT. He has an outstanding academic background with
over 50 scientific/technical publications and holds 4 patents. Dr.
Sun received his Ph.D. in Physics from MIT and M.S. and B.S. in
Physics from Tsinghua University (Beijing).
Rainer Wischinski - VP, Marketing
Rainer is responsible for Product Line Management and Marketing. He
brings to the table over 25 years of experience in defining, managing
and marketing of industry-leading industrial and building control
products. Prior to joining Spinwave, Rainer served as Vice President of
Marketing for Andover Controls. Following the acquisition of
Andover by TAC (a subsidiary of Schneider Electric), Rainer
assumed the positions of Vice President Global Marketing and Product
Line Management for TAC and served in that capacity until October of
2006. Prior to Andover/TAC, Rainer served as the Senior Director of
Product Marketing for Intellution , Inc. (later acquired by GE) and has
held several senior marketing and engineering positions at Schneider
Electric (Modicon Division) and AEG Automation. He holds a Diplom
Ingenieur degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University
of Hannover, Germany.
Dave Craven – VP, Sales & Business Development
Dave is responsible for sales and business development. He brings to
Spinwave over 30 years experience in the building automation and
controls industry. Prior to joining Spinwave, Dave served as Director of
Advanced Technology Applications for Goodman Manufacturing, a leading
manufacturer of heating and air conditioning products. While at Goodman,
Dave developed and introduced the first 802.15.4 RF network products for
temperature and occupancy control. Dave’s extensive building automation
experience includes a variety of sales, management and engineering
positions with Bechtel, Merck Pharmaceutical, American Standard, and
Time Energy. Dave has also served in business development and operations
roles for building automation veteran, Andover Controls (acquired by TAC
and now a subsidiary of Schneider Electric), as well as building
automation systems integrators, EMCOR Facilities Services Group and
Engineered Services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.
David Nelson - Engineering Fellow
David has been responsible for several successful startups in the
computer industry. He was co-founder of Apollo Computer where he was
responsible for product architecture and was instrumental in the
company's explosive growth that resulted in a successful IPO and
subsequent sale to Hewlett-Packard. Prior to Apollo, he was Director of
Research at Prime Computer. In 1990, he founded Fluent, an early
developer of full-motion, digital video over local area networks, which
was sold to Novell in 1993. Dr. Nelson holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical
Physics from the University of Maryland.
Christina Inge - Marketing Manager
Christina is responsible for marketing communications and design.
Christina brings to the table years of communications and research
experience for both online and print publications. She was a freelance
writer for magazines and websites including College Bound, MSN, and
Succeed. Previously, Christina was research analyst for Reed Business
Information, one of the world's leading business-to-business publishers.
She received her Bachelor's in English from the University of Maryland
and her Master's in Adult Education and Instructional Technology from the
University of Wyoming.
